National Triathlon Day
7th May 2026. Divers Cove, Surrey. The first one.
There has never been a national day for triathlon. Until now.
Zone3 created and officially registered National Triathlon Day in 2026, a day for the sport, open to everyone, built around the simple idea that more people should know what triathlon feels like. The first edition took place at Divers Cove on a May evening, and it was everything we hoped it would be.
How it went
People came not knowing what to expect. Some had never worn a wetsuit. Others were just getting their race season underway and wanted to be part of something. The mix was the best thing about it.
Free open water swimming. Wetsuit demos in the lake. Turbo trainers for anyone who wanted to test their legs. Zone3 kit to try on, team members on hand all evening, and the kind of conversations that happen when a sport's community actually gets together in one place.
Goody bags, giveaways, refreshments, and non-alcoholic beers once the wetsuits came off.
Kieran Lindars and Scott Hill
Kieran Lindars joined us just weeks after setting a new British long-distance record at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas. He has finished eighth at the IRONMAN World Championship. Sitting at Divers Cove listening to him talk through what preparation and racing at that level actually involves was a genuine privilege, and he made it feel completely accessible.
Scott Hill has coached at the highest level of British triathlon for years, including as Head Coach of the RAF Triathlon team. His coaching session was practical and grounded, the kind of advice that lands whether you are heading into your first open water swim or sharpening up at the start of a race season.
That combination, real coaching and real racing, in an open and welcoming environment, was exactly what the day was supposed to be.
Supporting Level Water
National Tri Day raised contributions for Level Water, a charity giving children with disabilities the opportunity to swim. Entry was free on the day, with donations welcomed.
Zone3 also committed to donating £1 to Level Water for every pair of goggles sold this season. Triathlon begins in the water. It should be accessible to everyone who wants to be in it.
Why we created it
Triathlon has millions of participants. Thriving clubs, packed open water venues, some of the biggest mass-participation events in sport. And until this year, no national day to mark any of it.
Zone3 was founded in 2006 by former elite triathlete James Lock. The company has been employee-owned since 2024. Everyone here is connected to the sport in some way, as athletes, coaches, swimmers, or people who simply fell for it and never stopped. Creating National Triathlon Day felt like the most natural thing we could do.
We registered it officially because we want it to grow. Not just as a Zone3 event, but as something the whole triathlon industry builds on together, every year.
National Tri Day returns in 2027
