Marta's Story

I started triathlon after competing at a high level in synchronized swimming. As it’s a sport with a short career span, I decided to take a break and focus on my studies. During that time, I met my husband, who was already doing long-distance triathlon. I began training just for fun, to stay active. Step by step, I progressed into ITU racing, competing in World Cups, and in the last three years I transitioned to middle and long distance, where I’ve found my true strength and comfort zone.

What I love most about triathlon is its variety, when I’m tired of the bike, I swim; when I need a change, I run. There’s always something to work on. It’s not just a sport, it’s a lifestyle. The structure, the training, the discipline, I genuinely love it all.

INSPIRATION:

I’m especially inspired by age-group athletes, those who juggle work, family, and still find time to train hard. Their dedication and motivation are incredible.

GREATEST CHALLENGE:

The most recent one stands out: after finishing second at Ironman South Africa, I had to fly across the world and race Singapore 70.3 just six days later. It was a tough physical and mental challenge with jet lag and travel fatigue, but I managed a solid performance.

GOALS FOR 2025:

In 2025, I’m racing the PTO T100 Tour, I’ve already done Singapore and plan to race five more, including San Francisco and the Grand Final. I’m also doing the Ironman Pro Series, aiming for a top-5 finish overall. I’ve already secured a podium in South Africa and I’m qualified for both World Championships, Kona and Marbella.

BEST RESULT TO DATE:

I can’t pick just one—they all mean something unique. Winning Ironman South Africa, 70.3 Western Australia, and placing 6th at the Ironman World Championship in Nice are all highlights.

TOP TIPS & ADVICE:

1. Be patient and constant. Don’t be in a hurry to achieve your challenge.

2. Ask and let yourself be guided by professionals

3. Look for a challenge that motivates you, but be realistic.

4. Train in the conditions you will find at race day

5. Training with more people will always be more fun and easier.

…and before you want to achieve something extraordinary, be sure you’re doing the basics (eat, train, rest and repeat!!)

WHICH ZONE3 KIT DO YOU RECOMMEND THE MOST/HAVE FOUND THE MOST USEFUL:

Last two seasons I’ve been using Vanquish X and I really liked it. I feel that the buoyancy and comfort and flexibility – especially in the shoulders – are in good balance.

FUN FACT:

If it’s possible, I always want to swim to the first buoy – at least -  beforethe start the race.
