Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. ❤️
After a 90 second gap coming out the swim, I had put myself in the best position possible. Unfortunately luck wasn’t on my side, and I spent a few minutes on the side of the road fixing my breaks.
To keep fighting until the very end is something I’m proud of. Life is full of uncontrollable factors. If this year has taught me anything, it’s how to deal with them.
In the end, I finished in 3rd place and earned a slot for 70.3 World Champs next year 🥹🇪🇸

Took the wetsuit out for a spin - feels so good!
I’ve been doing more ‘skins’ swimming this year to make me work a bit harder, so when I do wetsuit up I notice the difference.

Flashback Friday! ⚡
Looking back to last weekend, we are thrilled to celebrate the success of our ZONE3 supported athletes at the IM 70.3 St George North American Championships! 🏁
Nate Zarlengo fort hard all day after being a little bit down in the swim, he came off the bike in 2nd place and rounded off the day with a fantastic 4th place finish.
Gillian Micoli chose to mix things up over the winter months, taking time to work on her swim. Kudos to Gillian as she exited the water in 2nd place and finished the day with a well-deserved 3rd place!
Liis Rametta is a first-year supported athlete at Team Octagon and she very much delivered! She claimed a fantastic 3rd overall and 2nd in AG!

The IM 70.3 World Champs in Utah did not disappoint.
RACE MORNING:
Temps pretty cold. Water temp was 62F (16.6C) race morning. Outside temp was about 40F (4.4C) had a great swim.
I felt great the whole time, steady effort, good stroke rate.
Swim Time: 32.01 (17th out of the water)
BIKE:
I packed myself a lot of options for T1 in terms of warm clothes, but on race morning I just opted for a cycling jersey over my Tri Kit. In hindsight I probably could have done with gloves and vest. I was good for the first part of the bike, but started to get cold about 20K in, this made my back and shoulders tight (which would come back to bite me further down the road). I was holding a pretty good effort, but the power wasn't coming smoothly once I started to feel cold. Backed off and settled on the lower end of my power zones, tried to maximise the downhills to make up for the slower speed. The course was stunning, In hindsight I wish I wore a few extra layers to feel warmer, and a bit more time on the bike in training would have helped. I was hoping for around 3:05 on this course. My slowest bike time in a 70.3, but hardest in terms of temps and elevation (3200ft).

RUN:
Got off the bike and those first few steps.. eek, hip flexors and back a little grumpy. Took a few extra minutes in T2 to stretch and let things settle down. Grabbed my gels and 16oz flask of hydration and off I went. This run course had some climbing , 2 loops up, and then down basically, run on a golf course and across some grass which was fun and broke things up. I started to feel pretty good on the way up, but knew I needed to stay steady for that second loop that would be tough. No issues really on the run, felt good and really stayed within myself, started to push the effort a bit on the final down and felt strong and great crossing the finish line:

We have had customers do this before when they have had a problem with the length of the suit, but we always tell customers this is at there own discretion and it is not something we would tell you to do.
So it is worth being 100% sure before making this decision, but if you are going to cut your suit, use a very sharp pair of accurate scissors and make sure the cut is a clean cut.
