Advance Wetsuit

Building upon these already lofty foundation blocks, the latest edition of the Advance takes another huge step forward. Most notably, it now features the world’s highest-performing YAMAMOTO neoprene rubber. Still maintaining its modest price tag, the Advance wetsuit is the perfect choice for beginner or intermediate swimmers looking for a comfortable and performance-focused wetsuit for training, racing or simply exploring the open water.

10 different materials are used in the Advance wetsuit, to ensure maximum performance, comfort and durability whilst still maintaining a low price point.  And there are no nylon panels or external flatlock stitching, to prevent water entry and improve speed and comfort.

After winning the ‘Best on Test’ award, 220 Triathlon Magazine commented:
‘The Advance wouldn’t feel out of place against many of the mid-range products available at twice the price’ . ‘A brilliant all-rounder that comes at a great price’.

FIT GUIDANCE

Snug everywhere, restrictive nowhere. You should feel the suit holding your body without pinching at the shoulders or compressing your chest to the point where breathing feels laboured. If you can't take a full breath on land, size up. If there's loose material across the shoulders or chest, size down. Air pockets at the lower back usually mean you need a longer suit, such as an MT (Medium Tall), not a smaller size.

Size down if you're racing — a tighter fit gives you more from the suit's buoyancy and reduces water flushing. Size up if you're prioritising comfort for longer open water swims or training sessions where you'll be in the suit for extended periods.

Take your time the first time. Undo the zip fully and fold the top half of the wetsuit down, zip on the back. Start at the ankles and slowly work the neoprene up your legs in sections —don't try to pull from the top. Smooth out any air pockets as you go, particularly around the lower legs and crotch, before pulling the suit up over your torso. Reaching your hands towards the sky and helps to slide the arm sleeves into place. Use the pads of your fingers throughout, never your fingernails. The Silk-X lining will make this easier than most suits, but neoprene always requires patience on the first few wears. It will get easier as the suit breaks in.

Reviews

Comfortable, warm and looks great

"I absolutely love my advance wetsuit. When I bought it I was comparing with a slightly cheaper Zone3 wetsuit and there was a very obvious difference in the comfort and softness of the neoprene in the Advance. I initially bought this as a summer wetsuit but am still wearing it in below 8 degree water and it's keeping me warm enough (paired with gloves, socks and neoprene swim hat). I've swum up to 5 km in this wetsuit and found it very comfy with no rubbing on the back of my neck. One word of warning is to always keep the little bit of fabric on the velcro when not in use as the inside of this suit gets damaged really easily if the velcro gets stuck to it."

— Christina H. (5/5)

Looks good, slightly expensive but

"Looks good, slightly expensive but not awful value. I would expect a slightly more durable product that has a better tailored fit for the cost. Overall I used it for my open water swim and it worked well. You will need to buy good chafe protection though because it can leave very painful rashes, especially on your neck. Repairs."

— Rory S. (4/5)

I like the feel of

"I like the feel of the wetsuit, it’s a lot more flexible than my previous cheaper more basic wetsuit and the oval comfort is great. I wasn’t sure if I needed it a bigger size since weighing 73 kg, 180 cm height and my chest circumference was 102 cm. I’ve contacted zone three who were very helpful, also looking at photographs and reassured me that this is the right size for me. I need help to close it, I had the same issue with a my previous wetsuit, but I assume that’s due to the snug fit, which will prevent excess water coming in."

— Frank M. (5/5)

This is the third Advance

"This is the third Advance I have had, partially because they fit (the most important ting for a wetsuit) may only real complaint is that the collar and wrists often go before the rest of the suit, and there is no easy way to get a repair. I understand they have to be flexible. I did see the advance thermal in a shop and wished I had waited as the collar looked more robust."

— David E. (5/5)

Good Product, upper body fits

"Good Product, upper body fits well, but the lower half of the wetsuit is a bit big form me. that said, it made it very easy to get on / off. Flexibility and warmth were both spot on."

— Stuart P. (4/5)

My first wetsuit (so not

"My first wetsuit (so not an expert!) but it was great to wear! Excellent buoyancy. True to size. Really enjoyed swimming in it!"

— Heena K. (5/5)

Only worn it once so

"Only worn it once so far, found it to be comfortable, non restrictive, didn’t chafe and kept me warm so couldn’t be better."

— Ian P. (5/5)

— David S. (5/5)

"First wetsuit - can’t complain - getting used to getting in and out of it. It’s a good fit."
