Kneeskin - Performance Speed

The Performance Speed Kneeskin is built in hydrodynamic Aquaflo with a water-repellent coating that sheds water at the surface and lowers resistance. An open back leaves the shoulders unrestricted through the catch and the recovery, which a closed-back race suit cannot do. Highly structured fabric applies targeted compression that aids muscular activation, and flatlock low-profile seams keep the surface clean. This kneeskin is not World Aquatics approved, so check your event rules if approved swimwear is required.

Kneeskin - Performance Speed

WHO IT'S FOR

Racing and race-pace training where approved swimwear is not required. Plenty of swimmers find a closed-back race suit pulls across the shoulder blades and shortens the reach at the front of the stroke, which is the one place a race suit should not cost you anything. This one is cut to leave that alone.

  • Club and open competition that does not mandate approved swimwear
  • Time trials and race-pace sets
  • Swimmers who want a compressive race fit with full shoulder freedom
  • Anyone who finds a closed-back race suit restrictive through the shoulders

WHERE IT SITS IN THE RANGE

Zone3 makes race swimwear in two lines. Performance Gold uses PaperLite fabric with a nano coating, and the Performance Gold Kneeskin in that line is World Aquatics approved. Performance Speed uses Aquaflo. This kneeskin is not approved, so choose the Performance Gold Kneeskin if your event requires approved swimwear.

KEY BENEFITS

1. Less drag through the water. A water-repellent coating over hydrodynamic Aquaflo sheds water at the surface rather than absorbing it, lowering resistance across a race.

2. Shoulders left alone. The open back gives unrestricted movement through the catch and the recovery, with no fabric pulling across the shoulder blades at the front of the stroke.

3. Compression where it counts. Highly structured fabric applies targeted compression through the body and thighs, aiding muscular activation through repeated hard efforts.

4. Support that holds your line. The structured construction supports the body and aids body position in the water, holding the shape you set rather than letting it soften over a race.

5. A shape that lasts the season. Shape retention is built into the fabric structure, so the fit does not slacken across a year of racing and race-pace sets.

WHAT YOU'LL FEEL

Tight through the body and thighs, and open across the back. Getting into it takes a minute and some patience. Once on, the fabric sits slick against the skin and the legs feel held rather than covered, with a steady low pressure that does not ease off. The difference shows at the front of the stroke, where the arms go overhead with nothing catching or pulling you back down.

LESS DRAG

A water-repellent coating over hydrodynamic Aquaflo fabric. Water sheds at the surface rather than soaking in, so the suit stays light and resistance stays low from the first length to the last. Less of your effort goes into moving water and more of it into moving forward. Tech behind it: Aquaflo fabric, water-repellent coating

SHOULDERS FREE

An open back with nothing pulling across the shoulder blades. The arms travel overhead and into the catch without the suit shortening the reach, which is where a closed-back race suit tends to cost you. Compression through the body, freedom above it. Tech behind it: Open back construction

HELD, NOT COVERED

Highly structured fabric applies targeted compression through the body and thighs, aiding muscular activation over repeated hard efforts. The same structure supports body position in the water and holds the suit's shape across a season of racing. Tech behind it: Structured Aquaflo construction, flatlock low-profile seams

Helped me swim fast! 😁

"Helped me swim fast! 😁"

Fantastic, but. . .

"Amazing suit especially for the price. The cut around the arms really lets it down. For a product designed for women, it leaves you at constant risk of side boob slipping. You can even see it in the photos on the page. Please just give us more material at the side of the chest and under the arms. 🙏"

LS (4/5)

Looks lovely. Sizing quite small.

"Looks lovely. Sizing quite small. Comfortable and streamlined. Great swimsuit"

Mandy C. (5/5)

Very small sizing!

"I'm usually a 34-36 in costumes. Bought this to wear in open water and pool competitions. My old racing suits are all sizes 26-29 so I bought a 34 and 36 expecting it to be fine. I struggled to get it over my hips! Very small sizing! I'm tall (5"10) and I couldn't pull it over my shoulders without it showing everything off. I'd buy a bigger size but avoid it as a racing costume as doesn't seem to fit properly. Material seems good."

Leanne (2/5)

Disappointed

"I am size 14. The swimming costume arrived and I was pleased with the quality of the garment. Unfortunately it was too small so had to return it. At the same time I ordered another size 14 swimming costume from a different company which fitted perfectly. I think Zone 3 need to review their sizing policy. At the moment I would advise customers to order a size larger to avoid disappointment."

Thalia R. (2/5)

Happy customer

"I brought the Kneeskin in a size 34 but it was too small so I returned it and got a size 38. I am usually a size 6 but normally go for an 8/10 in swimsuits. Adam from the customer service team was very good and made the return and exchange very simple and easy. Since wearing the Kneeskin I have many compliments on how it looks and where I got it from. I am not sure if it makes me a better swimmer but I do feel as though I go faster."

Louise C. (4/5)

Girlfriend loved it

"Got this for my girlfriend and she absolutely loves it. The fit is great and the material is super premium. Couldn’t recommend it enough!"

Jake V. (5/5)

Sizing!

"The suit itself appears OK, however the sizing is ridiculously complicated. I tried a couple of different sizes but gave up and bought something else."

Melanie B. (2/5)

Not for curves!

"I wanted this for outside pool swimming (heated pool) thinking the longer legs would give good coverage on winter days. They do and it’s great material, but the shoulders are extremely cut in at the front so if you have any bust at all it’s borderline obscene!"

Kate B. (3/5)

Unwise sizing

"This is based on the sizing. Although I have a zone3 wetsuit I didn’t actually get to wear this kneeskin. I ordered according the size guide and when the suit came it was obvious that I would have needed to order as many as 3 sizes up, which is just ridiculous. Yes, these suits have compression technology, hence sizing up, but something is al off here."
