Challenge Daytona: PTO 2020 World Championship

Challenge Daytona: PTO 2020 World Championship

The PTO 2020 World Championship promises to be the highlight of a much-disrupted race season. Battling it out under the lights of the Daytona International Speedway, the top 40 male and female PTO athletes will challenge for a $1.15 million prize purse, the largest the sport has ever seen.

Joining them this Saturday will also be 20 wildcards (10 men and 10 women) invited for their name recognition and contribution to the sport throughout their careers. Challenge has also invited a further 16 professionals (8 men and 8 women) to bring the total start list to 116 pro athletes.

With the 70.3 World Championships and Tokyo Olympics postponed until 2021, Challenge Daytona offers these athletes their best chance at a big payday this year. Expect to see a fearsome contest.

As a Global Swim Partner for Challenge Family and with a number of Zone3 pro athletes competing, we are doubly excited for this event. Racing in Zone3 colours will be:

Standing in the way of their winnings is a wealth of high-profile talent they must compete against on the unique Daytona racecourse. Competitors will first complete a 2km swim (2 laps of 1km), followed by an 80km bike (20 laps of 4km) and then finally an 18km run (4 laps of 4.5km).

We caught up with Tim Don to ask him how he and been preparing and how he was feeling about the race this weekend.

The significance of this year’s PTO World Championship combined with the one-of-a-kind course certainly makes this event one you won’t want to miss.
