So when we were presented with The King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, it was a huge moment. Not just for our founder, our team, or the athletes we support - but for every customer who’s ever pulled on one of our suits and believed they could go further.
This award recognises outstanding contributions in innovation, business growth, and international trade. For Zone3, it reflects years of hard work and passion poured into every product, every market, and every athlete we serve. We now distribute to over 35 countries and have built strong relationships with customers, retailers and distributors across Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond. From grassroots swim clubs to elite triathletes on the world stage, our products are trusted globally to deliver athlete-approved, performance-proven results. It’s this scale and consistency, alongside our commitment to innovation and sustainability, that helps set us apart.
Winning this award is about more than just business growth - it recognises the energy, care, and performance-first mindset that goes into everything we make. From our first Aspire wetsuit to the latest innovation in B-Prene, we’ve always been driven by the athlete experience.
What makes this award so meaningful is that it's not just a celebration of where we’ve come from, it’s fuel for where we’re headed. We’re proud of our British roots, proud to be employee owned, and even prouder to be recognised on such a prestigious level. But we’re not slowing down. This award is a milestone, not a finish line, and as always, we're focused on developing game-changing kit that helps athletes at every level get the most out of their time in the water.
The award day itself was one to remember. We welcomed His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester and the Lord Lieutenant to our headquarters at Tannery Studios, where they were given a full tour of the office.
Each team had the chance to share what they do - designing cutting-edge products, supporting our global community of athletes, or ensuring every order gets out the door on time. It was a rare and special moment to pause and reflect as a team on how far we’ve come.
During the visit, we walked through our current product line-up including swimwear, wetsuits and trisuits and had some brilliant conversations about the materials and innovation behind each item. There was a real interest in the sustainable choices we’re making, like switching to B-Prene, Yulex and recycled materials, as well as how we provide marginal gains in performance.
From wetsuit buoyancy to goggle comfort, it was clear they appreciated how much thought goes into every product, and how our kit is designed to support both professional athletes and amateurs alike.
James started out by creating wetsuits with radical new designs and materials. This included the original Aspire wetsuit, which was literally game-changing. Not just for James and his fellow pro athletes: it turned out everyone wanted a wetsuit that was easier and more comfortable to wear, and allowed them to get more from their sport at every level. Two decades later, those same products, evolved and optimized, remain industry leaders, setting the benchmark for performance swimwear.
The formal presentation of the King’s Award took place. Speeches were given, the award was presented, and the whole team took a moment to enjoy the occasion with a team lunch.
It was a proud day, not just because of the recognition, but because it reminded us of the people, partnerships, and passion that have fuelled Zone3 from the very beginning.
