Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II

The team at ZONE3 offer our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family. We reflect with gratitude and admiration on an extraordinary lifetime of service from HM Queen Elizabeth II. We truly thank you, your majesty, for a life dedicated to serving the UK & Commonwealth, across their communities and interests, including sport.

In light of this nation’s recent and tragic loss, we wanted to reflect on how honoured ZONE3 is to have received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2018.

James Lock, former elite triathlete, founded ZONE3 in 2004 at age 19, when he designed, produced and sold swim accessories. His aim was simple; to improve his race speed and earn enough to cover his training and racing costs. Now 16 years later, ZONE3 retails in over 35 countries, and has won numerous awards.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade recognizes ZONE3’s success on the global stage. With quality of product at the forefront of everything Zone3 undertakes, Zone3 has built a loyal and engaged triathlete community in the UK and internationally.

At the time of receiving the award, James Lock said, “I am incredibly proud that Zone3 has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade. This accolade is testament to ZONE3’s mission to be the most loved and chosen specialist sports brand in the world.

My own background as a former athlete, innate passion for triathlon and my competitive nature, has helped me to build ZONE3 from a grassroots level to a global market player.

We are all delighted that our international growth has been recognised and this has been achieved thanks to an exceptionally talented, positive and hardworking team of staff.”

We will continue to drive the industry forward, relentlessly innovating and challenging the status quo through our unwavering commitment to creating the world’s finest endurance sportswear.

We also wanted to take the time to reflect on the incredible impact that our late Majesty had on the world of sport.

Her Majesty’s reign spanned over 18 editions of the Commonwealth Games and she has been known as a staunch supporter of the Games throughout her life. Beyond the Commonwealth Games, she was always an avid sports fan, presenting awards and trophies from the earliest years of her impressive, 70 year long reign. Although her main love was horses and horse racing, Her Majesty presented awards across a variety of sports, from football and tennis, to rugby and ice hockey.

And who could forget Queen Elizabeth’s key role at the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, featuring a clip of her and James Bond (Daniel Craig) appearing to skydive into the Olympic stadium, all before formally opening the games.

Athletes from across the world and across all sports have taken to social media to pay tribute to the UK’s longest-serving monarch and pay their respects to her and her family in this difficult time.

Rest in peace, your Majesty.
