Josh's Story

I started out as a competitive swimmer from a young age, but got into triathlon when I moved to London during my 4th year in Architecture, whilst working in practice. My dad had always told me that I'd make a good triathlete but never really committed to it, so when icouldn’t do as much swimming in London, I decided to start running and cycling. It escalated quickly from there, where i got the opportunity to race short course for Guernsey at 2 Island games and 2 Commonwealth games in 2018 and 2022. I switched to long course at the end of 2022 and competed in my first full season in 2023 where i came 5th in the 70.3 World Championships.

I love triathlon for the constant process of progress in all three disciplines, but also for the community. The races are packed with families and friends taking part in an epic event. Talking to people before the start is one of my favourite things to do. Alongside this, I love helping others achieve their goals. I set up a business as a triathlon coach and teach architecture at Cardiff University.

Josh Lewis Athlete Bio

INSPIRATION: Ultimately my parents have always inspired me.

SEASON GOALS: My aim for 2025 is to qualify for Nice World Champs and be competitive in the Pro series.

GREATEST CHALLENGE: I’ve had a fair few tough challenges, just to make it to the end of some of the races I’ve not executed properly for one reason or another. The one that stands out is my first Ironman in Portugal. I cramped severely 15k into the run… it took me a long time to make it to the finish that day.

BEST RESULT TO DATE:

5th at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs 2023

2nd in the Long Course European Championships 2024
