Access to swimming shouldn’t be limited by circumstance.

Zone3 partners with Level Water, a UK-based charity working to make swimming accessible to children with disabilities through high-quality, one-to-one lessons. Together, we support practical, long-term solutions that remove barriers and create opportunities in the water, for children, families and communities across the UK.

A Partnership Built on Access

Swimming is the biggest unmet need in sport for children with disabilities. Level Water addresses this directly by working with pools and swim schools nationwide to train specialist teachers and fund personalised one-to-one lessons for children aged 4 to 11.

These lessons go beyond technique. They help build strength, coordination and water confidence, often providing children with independence and freedom that isn’t easily found elsewhere.

Zone3 supports this work through ongoing funding, shared platforms and involvement in key events, not as a campaign, but as a long-term partnership.

“Visiting the pool in Dorking and watching a Level Water swimming lesson was genuinely eye-opening. Seeing the confidence, determination and progress of the children brought home how impactful this work is for families of children with disabilities.

Supporting Level Water through Zone3, and personally, feels like a meaningful way to give back to the sport that has given me so much. Meeting the children and their parents made it clear just how much difference each lesson can make.”

What our Support Enables

Our involvement with Level Water is focused on increasing access where it’s needed most.

Through Zone3 funding, Level Water is expanding its Learn to Swim programme, enabling:

  • 18 additional children per week to access one-to-one lessons
  • 40 weeks of delivery per year
  • Approximately 720 specialist swimming lessons annually

Our support has also helped open access to pools in areas previously out of reach, allowing more families to take their first steps — and strokes — in the water with confidence.

Why this work matters

Swimming is a life skill. For many children with disabilities, access to lessons is limited by cost, availability or lack of specialist provision.

By supporting tailored lessons, trained instructors and appropriate equipment, Level Water removes those barriers — helping children develop confidence, independence and a lasting relationship with the water.

Swim. Support. Get involved.

Level Water raises funds through a series of open-water swimming events, including Dart10k, Bantham Boomerang, Bantham Swoosh and Hurly Burly. These events bring the swimming community together in support of a shared goal: expanding access to swimming for children with disabilities.

Zone3 actively supports these events and will be offering competition entries and opportunities for swimmers who want to take part.

Every entry helps fund specialist lessons and creates tangible impact in the water.

Find an Event

By taking part in a Level Water event and meeting a fundraising target, participants can help fund up to 16 swimming lessons for a child with a disability.
