Louis Roederer et Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2015Louis Roederer et Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2015
Champagne
Conceived as an exchange and shaped by friendship, this wine is first and foremost a result of the free-thinking that came out of a meeting between Louis Roederer’s CEO Frédéric Rouzaud, his cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon and the designer Philippe Starck. Their conversations led to the creation of the very first Brut Nature in 2006 and the relationship continued to grow over the years to give us the 2009 and 2012 vintages. The Brut Nature was born from an idea of the dreamed-for, perfect champagne. It is a wine that captures the freshness of the clay soils in a sunny year, a wine of truth, the testimony to an encounter, a soil, a year, free spirits and the independent spirit that runs through the Champagne House. It is a champagne that perfectly encapsulates this new exploration of a Louis Roederer terroir. The Louis Roederer et Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2015 has a yellow hue with shimmering highlights and an even flow of lively bubbles. The bouquet is pure, elegant, vertical, rich and concentrated. Nuances of ripe fruit combined with exceptional finesse: fine, delicate citrus peel and vanilla along with warmer notes of baked apple and Tarte Tatin that gradually give way to aromas of nougat. The palate offers a marked and singular contrast: it is very expressionist thanks to the broad, juicy, almost sensual texture of the clay soils in a sunny year, yet distinctly minimalist due to a fresh, pure, mineral and mouth watering backbone associated with its zero dosage. Ripe citrus fruit combines with warm stone notes further accentuating the mouth watering, umami sensation. The finish is light, energetic and ethereal. Champagne
Louis Roederer is a highly respected Champagne producer located in the historic city of Reims. The renowned Champagne house, founded in the late 1700s, is still owned and operated by the Roederer family. Their signature style consists of an equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a touch of Pinot Meunier, which comprises approximately one-fifth of the blend. Louis Roederer's most famous wine is Cristal, a prestigious Champagne that has captured the hearts of wine enthusiasts worldwide. The house was founded in 1833 and aimed to capture foreign markets, particularly Russia. Roederer became the wine of choice for the Russian royal family, and Cristal was created for Tsar Alexander II. Louis Roederer acquired grand cru vineyards in Champagne in 1845, which was unusual for the time as most houses were buying grapes from growers. Today, the Roederer vineyards encompass around 240 hectares of land, with around 25% managed biodynamically. This commitment to sustainable farming practices is a testament to the house's dedication to producing high-quality wines that are both delicious and environmentally responsible. Cristal is available in standard and rosé formats, with the latter being less common. The standard vintage Cristal wine is made from the house's best vineyard plots and is a blend of approximately 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Some parts of the blend are aged in barrels. Cristal rosé is also made from similar proportions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but the Pinot Noir is left on skins for a longer time before pressing. Around 20% of the wine is aged in large format oak, resulting in a light rosé colour with hints of onion skin. Cristal wines are also available under the Vinothèque label, which undergoes late disgorging, extended lees aging, and further cellaring in the Louis Roederer cellars in the bottle. Louis Roederer's Cristal Rose Vinothèque 2002 is a unique and exclusive offering that was created to give wine lovers the chance to experience a little bit of the magic of this hidden collection. The wines are stored in ideal conditions, preserving their purity, fruit and the surprising brightness typical of Cristal. Cristal Vinothèque is the end result of a project that offers a wine of eternal youth, displaying all the characteristics of a poised, elegant wine of astonishing character. Aged on its lees for around 10 years before disgorgement, then stored on its cork for a further 10 years, it is a product of time and anticipation. The Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Rosé Vinothèque 2002 is a truly exceptional and captivating expression of elegance and complexity. This limited edition Champagne, carefully crafted to perfection, offers a sensory experience that is both luxurious and memorable. In the glass, this rosé Champagne showcases a beautiful, pale salmon colour, reminiscent of delicate rose petals. The fine, persistent bubbles gracefully dance to the surface, creating a mesmerizing visual display. On the nose, the Cristal Rosé Vinothèque 2002 reveals an exquisite bouquet of fragrances. Aromas of fresh strawberries, ripe raspberries, and juicy cherries intertwine with hints of delicate rose petals and subtle notes of brioche and toasted almonds. This intricate symphony of scents creates a seductive and alluring invitation to indulge. Upon the first sip, the palate is greeted with a harmonious balance of flavors that unfold with precision and finesse. Layers of red fruit, including wild strawberries and tangy cranberries, mingle with zesty citrus accents, adding a refreshing vibrancy. The wine's complexity deepens as subtle hints of spices, such as ginger and cinnamon, emerge, adding depth and intrigue. The Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Rosé Vinothèque 2002 boasts a luxurious mouthfeel, with a velvety texture that caresses the palate. The fine bubbles contribute to a creamy and luscious sensation, enhancing the wine's overall elegance. The finish is remarkably long and expressive, leaving a lasting impression. The flavors linger on the palate, with a delightful interplay between the fruit, acidity, and delicate toasty notes. This Champagne showcases remarkable aging potential, with the 2002 vintage demonstrating the perfect balance between youthful vibrancy and mature complexity. The best way I can covey what it feels like to experience this truly extraordinary rosé champagne is to say that it tastes like a mature vintage Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru - a red Burgundy! - with very fine bubbles and an acidity that gives it a weightless delicacy, it’s impossible to resist. After a bit of aeration there’s also a note of teriyaki sauce which makes this even more special. Tasted from Jeroboam at the Cristal vertical tasting at the champagne house on July 6th, 2023. Drink or hold. - Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com, 100 Points. The 2002 Cristal Rosé Vinothèque is the latest Champagne in this series of late releases from Roederer. Rich, layered and expansive in feel, the 2002 is opulent to the core, which is to say very much in the style of the year. The Pinot in particular is so expressive in this tasting. There’s real presence and breadth here. Time has softened some of the contours, not that the 2002 needed much refining, as it was spectacular on release. Red-toned fruit, gentle spice, dried flowers, kirsch and mint are some of the many nuances that develop in a timeless, breathtaking Cristal Rosé that is simply brilliant today. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: 2018. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media, 98 Points. This commitment to sustainable farming practices is a testament to the house's dedication to producing high-quality wines that are both delicious and environmentally responsible. The 2016 vintage was characterised by particularly marked weather variations: spring was cool, wet and relatively late whereas summer was warm and dry with a heatwave in late August followed by dry and sunny weather over the harvest period which was highly beneficial to the ripening of the grapes. Our Pinot noirs thrived in these dry, sunny conditions and the heat has given them an intensely fruity character and silky smooth texture. The Chardonnays are just as outstanding although more chiselled and saline in character. A rosé created by a long, gentle infusion of Pinot noir that extracts its juicy ripeness while preserving its tremendous saline freshness. In this process, some Chardonnay juices are added to the Pinot noir maceration, to ferment together and achieve the perfect integration of the two grape varieties. Salmon pink hue with bright red tints. Deep, intense colour. The bubbles are fine yet vibrant and energetic. The summery bouquet shows exceptional intensity and freshness with its aromas of ripe, juicy stone fruit (wild peach) complemented by zesty red fruit (redcurrant) and citrus notes (blood orange). Upon aeration, the nose develops more jammy notes of Roussillon red apricot. The palate is soft, juicy and concentrated on entry and then quickly shows a chalky, saline freshness that structures the wine and lends it a voluptuous yet delicate mouthfeel. The juicy, ripe fruit (nectarine and wild peach) and citrus (lemon) give the wine a fresh, zesty character that is underpinned by a subtle hint of bitterness. The soft, delicate bubbles coat the palate and impart a velvety texture. The end palate is mouth-watering and ever so slightly salty with discreet tannins and a lovely subtle bitterness that complements the incredible dry chalkiness of the wine and lingers on the seemingly never-ending finish. Today Louis Roederer remains one of the very few remaining family owned Houses in Champagne with 7th generation Frederic Rouzaud at the helm. Each Collection is a change of gear, a new chapter in the Champagne House 'world of taste. Always unique, yet always decidedly Roederer! Cristal is the flagship cuvée from Louis Roederer. Created in 1876, it is composed of Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. 2012 was one of the most challenging and complicated years ever experienced in Champagne. However, difficult conditions often lead to great things… The low yields, due to the unpredictable weather, combined with continental conditions towards the end of the season, gave us unusual levels of maturity, resulting in rich, full-bodied and structured wines worthy of the greatest vintages in Champagne. Such attractive, fresh, floral aromas here with fine bread, hints of white almonds and a lemon edge. White cherries and strong, chalky minerals, too. The palate has a very composed feel. Seamless and quite silky texture with effortless length and flow. Very fluid and composed. Very late, warming almond flavors. This is very long and smooth with a velvety finish. Super long Pinot weight. Resolved and drinkable, but will age so well. - James Suckling, 98 Points. Louis Roederer remains one of the last 100% independent, family-owned Champagne Houses, presided over by seventh generation Frédéric Rouzaud. Under the stewardship of Chef du Cave, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon these past two decades, Louis Roederer has become the largest Biodynamic Domaine in Champagne with their 242 hectares located in the three most important sub-regions: Montagne de Reims (La Montagne); Vallée de la Marne (La Rivière) and Côtes des Blancs (La Côte). In March 2021, following 20 years of environmental transition, 115 hectares of the historic Louis Roederer family vineyard achieved organic certification. 2017, the base vintage for Collection 243, was a year of living dangerously! An exceptionally warm and dry winter and spring, but the latter brought severe frosts from 17 to 29 April, setting the sorry record for 12 nights of frost. These were followed by a dull, wet and not particularly hot summer, which ended in an almost tropical (hot and humid) spell at the end of August. This sudden change led to a significant increase in grey rot on the ripening Pinot noir and Meunier grapes. The harvest was fastpaced and completed very quickly demanding precise and methodical selection work, of an unprecedented level even for Roederer. Light straw colour and a savoury bouquet of straw, dry grass, dried herb aromas with richness and ripeness: lemon, honey, subtle nutty overtones and smoky creamy notes. It's quite full in the mouth and very dry, savoury and well-structured, with evident tannins and acidity that call loudly for food. There is richness and amplitude on the palate, giving it the backbone that is needed for a food wine. The finish is long and insistent, the end-palate crisply dry and loaded with energy. The 8 grams per litre of dosage do not show at all, the wine tastes dry and savoury with a mineral grip that is extremely appetising. It's a wine that would also age very well. A new direction for Roederer, the Collection replaces Brut Premier from now on. - Huon Hooke, The Real Review, June 2021, 95 Points The Finer DetailsStyle - ChampagneVarietal - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot MeunierRegion - ChampagneCountry - FranceVintage - Non-VintageSize - 1.5L MagnumABV - 12%Closure - Cork

Product Information: This is pure Chardonnay grown on hillside plots in the Avize terroir in the heart of the “La Côte” estate. This champagne draws its strength from the intense chalkiness of these limestone soils which lend it its infinite freshness. The saline freshness of the limestone, produces a direct, austere, and luminous wine. The wine caresses with a powdery mineral texture. Magnificent, soft and even bubbles. Bouquet of white flowers (jasmine, orange blossom), citrus zest (lemon) and wheat complemented by an impression of iodine freshness, sea spray, sea breeze and powdered chalk. The palate is creamy and caressing, revealing softness and finesse; coated velvet-like textures that quickly give way to fresh, marine, powdery and concentrated sensations. Intensity, tension and drive without austerity: nothing out of place. A superb blanc de blancs. - Huon Hooke, The Real Review, 97 Points. A curious little baby of a Blanc de Blancs, awash with stony minerality and a prickle of herbaceousness, one would think this would be incredibly austere. However, the five years on lees gives this wine such a smooth base to work from all warm, buttery pastry and fresh lemon juice combined to leave a lingering and moreish finish. This is a well-structured and pretty Blanc de Blancs, sourced from the Côte vineyards in Avize, precise and delicious now, this will definitely reward you for careful cellaring. The inclusion of Chardonnay in the maceration provides balance and length, adding complexity to the overall profile. With 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay, this cuvée offers a delicate balance of richness and freshness, making it a stand-out vintage. The 2013 Rosé Champagne is a striking, sophisticated blend that has been aged in bottle for 4 years and allowed to rest for an additional 6 months after disgorging to achieve perfect maturity. The resulting wine is vibrant and harmonious, with a delightful combination of opulent fruit, subtle minerality, and a smooth, persistent finish. The soft, round mouthfeel is complemented by piercing freshness and delicate tannins, creating a champagne of remarkable structure and balance. This exceptional rosé is a perfect representation of the art of winemaking at Louis Roederer. This unwavering dedication to craftsmanship ensures that each bottle captures the House's signature style of elegance, complexity, and balance. Nose - Opulent Spice & Smoke, Raspberry, Saline Notes The nose opens out to reveal spicy and smoky notes, characteristic of the Pinot noirs grown in Cumières, along with aromas of dried fruit, roasted almonds and cocoa beans. Underlying saline notes, reminiscent of sea spray. Palate - Soft, Piercing Freshness, Delicate TanninsOn the palate the wine is soft and smooth yet also piercingly fresh. A well-integrated wine with excellent body, pleasant freshness, long length and delicate mouthfeel. Finish - Long, Persistent, Sea SprayThe body softens gradually and coats the palate with a velvety smoothness underpinned by a pleasant salinity and delicate hints of tannin from the flesh and skins of the Pinot noir grape. Very clean finish, moreish bitterness. Pale (but not very pale) strawberry pink. Quite an opulent nose. This is going the super-fruity route! Good perhaps to have it very distinct from the Brut rather than just a Brut with a bit of colour? But it does finish dry and I could well imagine enjoying this with salmon and tuna and – hey – maybe chicken and white fish??! Very clean finish. Very slight bitterness on the end which I’m sure is intentional. - Jancis Robinson, 17 Points. A unique expression of the La Rivière estate, this rosé is crafted from a harmonious blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. The infusion method, where Pinot Noir is macerated with Chardonnay juice, results in an extraordinary depth of flavour and a remarkable balance between freshness and fruitiness. Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Rose 2013Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Rose 2013
Champagne
In 1974, 100 years after the creation of Cristal, Jean-Claude Rouzaud decided to create the Cristal Rosé cuvée. To achieve this, he selected old-vine Pinot noir grapes from the finest Grand Cru vineyards at Aÿ, which are now cultivated according to biodynamic principles. The unique calcareous clay soil, which gives the grapes an exquisite minerality, enables the vines (in the best years) to attain exceptional fruit maturity, complemented by a crystalline acidity. A blend of around 55% Pinot noir and 45% Chardonnay, comprising 20% of wine matured in oak tuns, Cristal Rosé is produced using the saignée process after cold maceration. The Cristal Rosé cuvée is aged, on average, for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars. The attack reveals an aromatic intensity with a remarkable fullness and the smooth, sweet flavours of white flowers, red fruits, caramel, and Tarte Tatin. The full, round, and refined texture in the initial attack, which is characteristic of the Louis Roederer Champagne House, is complemented by a winey—though not full-bodied—structure and a remarkable freshness, giving an impression of great finesse and strengthening the wine’s precision. Aromas of strawberry, iron, orange peel and brioche follow through to a full body with gorgeous fruit and sweet tannins that layer the wine. Strawberry-patisserie undertones. Rather juicy and chewy with very round, fine tannins. Savory, flavorful and lightly spicy. Caressing finish with lots of fruity flavour and dryness. Large Format
2017, the base vintage for Collection 242, was a year of living dangerously!

Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Vinothèque 2002 is a rare and exceptional wine that showcases the exceptional ability of Cristal to age in the bottle. While Cristal is famous the world over, few are aware of its intelligence to take advantage of the passing years, making it a rare gem in the world of champagne. For this reason, the House of Louis Roederer preserves some bottles of Cristal in its cellars, submitting them to the benevolent influence of time. These bottles are made ready for their ageing in an ideal environment, then isolated, allowing the wine to gently evolve towards a harmonious maturity, developing a more complex bouquet and evolved flavors. A limited number of Cristal Vinothèque bottles were aged "sur lattes" for around ten years, with a lower dosage than usual, but just enough to allow them to make the trip through time comfortably. These carefully prepared bottles were then cellar-aged in the Vinothèque, on their corks, for another ten years or so. The result is a wine of exceptional character and beauty, showcasing the best of what Cristal has to offer. Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Vinothèque 2002 is a true masterpiece, a testament to the house's commitment to excellence and their dedication to producing exceptional wines that stand the test of time. The Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Vinothèque 2002 is a remarkable expression of elegance and finesse. In the glass, the Cristal Vinothèque 2002 displays a light greenish-yellow colour with golden glints, captivating the eye with its radiant appearance. On the nose, this Champagne reveals a complex and enticing bouquet. Aromas of white fruits, such as crisp apples and juicy pears, intertwine with delicate citrus notes, offering a refreshing and vibrant aromatic profile. Subtle hints of brioche and toasted almonds add depth and complexity, enhancing the overall sensory experience. Upon the first sip, the palate is greeted with a harmonious balance of flavors. The wine's silky texture caresses the tongue, while flavors of white fruits and citrus zest dance on the palate. There is a powerful mineral quality that adds a distinctive character, further complemented by a touch of floral nuances. The Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Vinothèque 2002 is a wine of exceptional finesse and longevity. It showcases a remarkable aging potential, with the 2002 vintage capturing the perfect balance between youthful vibrancy and mature complexity. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a lasting impression. The flavors persist on the palate, with a beautiful interplay between the fruit, mineral notes, and subtle toasty nuances. An extraordinary champagne experience that you’ll never forget! Tons of white chocolate on the savory nose pulls you into this concentrated and chalky champagne with rich candied citrus and mirabelle fruit. So much oily umami complexity right through the huge breathtakingly vivid finish. Just 10% of each vintage of Cristal gets the extra years of aging for release as Vinotheque. Its bright, golden hue with shimmering highlights is visually enticing, while the fine, lively mousse creates a delightful effervescence. The bouquet is both open and rich, exuding a wonderful freshness. It offers an explosion of ripe delicate fruit with intense notes of yellow fruit such as mirabelle plum from the Pinot Noir, complemented by the sweetness of citrus fruits like lemon meringue pie and delicate hints of white flowers specifically jasmine from the Chardonnay. As the wine opens up autolytic characters emerge evolving towards smoky roasted notes and the enticing aroma of freshly baked pastries. The Vineyard: The year 2020 followed a similar trajectory to that of 2019 with a mild and rainy winter followed by a dry summer with several heatwaves which, although less extreme than in 2019, still had an impact on the yield. Fortunately, the weather was rather dull and a bit wet in June which provided a welcome humid interlude between two dry spells. Despite early impressions of relentless heat and sunshine, the temperatures and sunshine levels over the 2020 harvest period were actually relatively normal. These continental conditions, but with "normal" annual averages, enabled the production of mature and well-balanced wines! The harvests took place between 22 August and 11 September 2020.
