Yulex® Long Sleeve Swimsuit

1.5mm plant-based natural rubber runs the full length of the arms as well as the body, which makes the Women's Yulex Long Sleeve Swimsuit the most covered of the Yulex swimsuits and the one built for cold wild swimming. Zig-zag stitched cuffs and leg openings hold against the skin so water is not flushing through as you swim. Yulex comes from the Hevea tree rather than from oil, and Zone3 was the first triathlon brand to use it. Wear it over swimwear in milder water, then under a wetsuit once the temperature drops.

Yulex® Long Sleeve Swimsuit

WHO IT'S FOR

You swim outdoors through the cold months and the arms are what you lose first. A sleeveless suit leaves them bare at exactly the point in the season when bare stops being an option. This covers them to the wrist.

  • Cold wild swimming and open water through the winter
  • Exposed lakes and windy mornings
  • Surfing and paddleboarding
  • Layering under a wetsuit once the water drops further

WHERE IT SITS IN THE RANGE

This is the most covered of the women's Yulex swimsuits. The Women's Yulex Sleeveless Swimsuit carries the same 1.5mm rubber through the body with the shoulders left free, so take that one while the water is still mild. For a thermal layer without rubber, the Ti+ swimsuits use a titanium-infused lining instead.

KEY BENEFITS

1. The arms stop being the part you lose. 1.5mm Yulex runs the full length of the sleeve to the wrist, so the warmth does not stop at the shoulder the way it does in a sleeveless suit.

2. Water is not running through the suit as you swim. Zig-zag stitched cuffs and leg openings hold against the skin, and a contoured collar does the same job at the neck. That is what stops flushing and keeps the warmth where the rubber put it.

3. Full sleeves without a seam under the arm. The underarm panel is seamless, so the part of a long-sleeve suit that usually rubs on a long swim has nothing in it to rub.

4. The warmth of neoprene, grown rather than made. Yulex is a natural rubber tapped from the Hevea tree and refined into a foam. Yulex says its plant-based rubber foam emits 80% less CO2 than petroleum-based neoprene. The linings are recycled polyester.

5. One suit covers the whole of the cold season. Wear it over swimwear while the water is still swimmable, then as a base layer under a wetsuit once it drops further.

WHAT YOU'LL FEEL

Getting in is the moment the sleeves earn it. The cold reaches your hands and your face and largely gives up there. Your arms feel slightly more present than they do bare, which is the trade, and by two hundred metres you have stopped noticing. Nothing sluices down your chest each time you turn to breathe. The real difference comes afterwards, standing in the wind on the bank and not immediately wanting to be somewhere else.

Key Features

MATERIAL

  • 1.5mm Yulex natural rubber: plant-based closed-cell foam tapped from the Hevea tree, with minimal water absorption.
  • Recycled polyester linings: soft against the skin inside, durable outside.

WARMTH AND COVERAGE

  • Full-length sleeves: 1.5mm rubber to the wrist, covering the arms and shoulders.
  • Contoured collar: shaped at the neck for a comfortable seal that stops water flushing down the chest.
  • Extended lower-body coverage: more coverage through the hips and upper legs than a standard costume gives.
  • Layering: worn over swimwear in milder water, or as a base layer under a wetsuit when it drops.

FIT AND CONSTRUCTION

  • YKK front zip: front entry, so the suit goes on without help.
  • Seamless underarm panel: no seam through the armpit, where a long-sleeve suit rubs most.
  • Zig-zag stitch cuffs and leg openings: stretch-finished hems that hold against the skin to stop flushing.
  • Low-profile flatlock seams: stitched flat so the seam sits against the skin rather than under it.

Helps with the cold but neck is very annoying

"Have worn this twice under a wetsuit now to protect from the cold; it definitely helps although under a wetsuit it does feel a bit more restrictive around the arms. Swam 2. 5k event front crawl which was doable, just wasn’t very comfortable at the beginning but loosened up. What was annoying was the neck - the next is VERY high and when swimming it digs into my neck. Impossible to do anything about this as the zip goes all the way up, so the solution is to leave a bit of the neck unzipped. I am a 10 in clothes and bought a 10 and it’s a good fit. Hard to get on and off on your own, maybe there’s a knack I haven’t worked out yet! Simple to order, be sure of your size before using."

Very easy to put on,

"Very easy to put on, very comfortable and warm, but the sleeves feel heavy in the water. I ordered one size larger than my actual size, so that might be why the arms feel loose and heavy. But this swimsuit is excellent for warmth when swimming outside in winter."

— Orlagh O. (4/5)

Snug, warm and flattering

"I am waiting for the weather to get a little colder before using this swimsuit (currently using the sleeveless Yulex one which is fantastic). This is a very comforable and snug fit, takes a bit more time to wriggle out off compared to the sleeveless one but not too bad. Can imagine it will really keep me warm as the temperatures drop, because the sleeveless one has already made a massive difference. The neck is quite high and snug compared to the sleeveless one. So impressed with every item from my zone 3 order for open water swimming."

Great Yulex Swimsuit

"This long sleeve yulex swimsuit is comfortable and warm. A great addition to my wild swimming kit now that Autumn is drawing in."

"Good fit, comfortable easy to put on."

Very comfortable. But awkward to

"Very comfortable. But awkward to get arms and up into shoulders, maybe zip extended by 100mm would sort this. Great warmth and easy me if movement and range of motion in the water is excellent."

— Eamonn W. (5/5)

Lovely and warm

"Really enjoying this suit. It is ideal in the current conditions- water temperature between 5 and 10 degrees. Only issue is that it is rather difficult to get out of. The zip needs to be longer to make this easier"
