Katrine's Story

Katrine Græsbøll Christensen first built her elite sporting credentials as a sprint kayaker, representing Denmark on the national team over the 500-metre distance. After transitioning from paddling to endurance racing, she has since established herself as a long-distance triathlete, bringing power and durability from her kayaking background into the sport.

While swimming was the discipline that required the biggest adjustment, Christensen quickly became known for her strength on the bike and her ability to run strongly off it. During the 2025 season, she reached the podium at both IRONMAN South Africa and IRONMAN 70.3 Krakow.

Alongside her professional racing career, Christensen is a civil engineer specialising in biomedical technology and has a strong interest in sleep science. She is also the mother of a preschool-aged daughter, balancing elite sport with family and professional life.

Katrine’s husband bought her a start number for a local middle-distance triathlon for Christmas. At first, she thought it was a ridiculous gift, but it ended up being one of the best she ever received. “I was sceptical until the day of the race, but I enjoyed every second of it and felt completely in love with the sport.” Later that year, Katrine became the Danish overall Age-group champion over the middle-distance, and the year after she had my first race as a PRO.
